Project Overview

Morgan Sindall appointed Nuneaton Signs to deliver the full signage package for three Welsh school upgrade projects: Llanilltud Faerdref, Penygawsi, and Pontyclun. Delivered under the Welsh Government’s MIM (Mutual Investment Model) programme, each site required a combination of bilingual braille/tactile signage, external wayfinding, and high-impact internal graphics. Our early involvement in providing cost advice, combined with our proven track record and social enterprise credentials, positioned us as a trusted partner throughout the tender and delivery stages.

Our Approach

Bilingual, Accessible & Brand‑Aligned Design

Working closely with Morgan Sindall and the school stakeholders, we developed a compliant signage suite featuring:

  • Large external entrance signs
  • Bilingual braille and tactile door signs
  • Internal wall vinyl graphics
  • Acrylic letters and pictograms
  • External post‑mounted and fingerpost wayfinding signage

We ensured all braille was fully checked for legibility and accuracy by our in‑house registered blind team members, including a colleague proficient in braille reading.

Tailored Technical Solutions for Three Unique Sites

Although the schools followed similar design principles, each building used a different cladding system. To ensure a precise and secure installation, we:

  • Engineered site‑specific fixing methods to suit each cladding type
  • Worked directly with cladding manufacturers to verify compatibility
  • Selected and tested proprietary cladding clamps where required

This collaborative approach allowed us to provide structurally sound, visually consistent signage across all three schools.

Collaborative Graphic Development

Our graphics team worked with the client to develop bespoke cut‑dragon wall graphics—transforming the main staircase into a vibrant feature. The design incorporated:

  • Positive messaging in both Welsh and English
  • Custom elements showcasing the names of the current student cohort
  • High‑impact, durable print finishes suitable for high‑traffic school environments

Social Value

As a Social Enterprise, we embedded meaningful social value throughout the project. Our registered blind team members supported braille quality assurance, ensuring accessibility excellence. This involvement not only added lived experience expertise to the project but also contributed to ongoing skills development within our workforce. Total Social Value Generated: £11,760
